2023 Season Review
The Varsity Volleyball program finished the 2023 season with a record of 22-14. The last time Shiocton Volleyball finished with more than 20 wins was 8 years ago.
Other notable highlights for the 2023 season are:
- We tied with Amherst and Wittenberg for third (3rd) place in the Conference (record of 4-3)
- We defeated Amherst in a conference match for the first time since 2016
- We received a 4 seed in our regional behind 1 seed St. Mary Catholic (state qualifier), 2 seed Bonduel (conference champs/regional champs) and 3 seed Weyauwega who took 2nd in Conference
- We defeated Iola in the first round of regionals
We ended our season with a hard fought battle with Amherst and it showed in our scores of 17-25, 25-27, 30-28, & 23-25. I was so proud of how the girls played that night. They left everything they had out on the court. I will remember this match for a long time. We had a great season and I hope everyone involved enjoyed it as much as I did.
I need to thank our seniors for their leadership and hard work this season: Liz Pelky, Alexis Garcia, Sydney Ritchie, Karissa Birch, Autumn Taylor, Lexi Riehl, & Lexi Widmann. With leadership and hard work comes accolades & awards:
- Liz Pelky was one of our captains, she was a four year varsity award winner, and 2nd Team All Conference Award winner.
- Alexis Garcia was one of our captains, 2nd Team All Conference Award winner and she broke the all time dig record at Shiocton with 530 digs.
- Sydney Ritchie was one of our captains and received our Most Improved Player Award.
- Autumn Taylor was a four year varsity award winner and she was a 2nd Team All Conference Award winner.
- Karissa Birch received the Coaches Award
I wish the best for our seniors and I know they will do great with their future endeavors. They will truly be missed.
Our Juniors who also contributed to our successful season are: Billie Jean Puls, Lydia Hofacker, Megan Wilkinson, Morgan Oskey, Lily VanZeeland, and Destiny Monnot. Billie Jean Puls was our Most Valuable Player and a 2nd team All Conference Award winner. We are so excited to have this great group of girls returning for the 2024 season!
