This season was a learning experience for everyone involved. Although the win and loss columns were not what we desired, there was good effort throughout the season and signs of a bright future ahead. If we all take pride in our offseason efforts, I am confident that we will turn things around for the next season.
The receiving talents of Bennett Schmidt and James Mutchie helped the program open up its passing game over the years. Other seniors like Daltyn Enders and Carter Young showed that through hard work and good morals, players can make up for lost time.
My favorite moment of this season was the team assisting in the Challenger Football League again. Our group of volunteers did a great job helping coach these young athletes with special needs learn the fundamentals of football and have a blast enjoying the game!
Watching Gunnar Baker, Ty Marcks, and Logan Leeman excitedly helping out during the Challenger League, and seeing their enjoyment while helping others develop a love for the game was one of my favorite moments. Seeing Caleb Tickler also get his first varsity reps and letter after four years of commitment was a highlight for the team.
Coacing the team this year was again a great learning experience, and although the outcomes did not meet expectations, it did add fuel to the fire to work harder and learn more during the upcoming offseason. As a coach, it was good to see over the course of a tough year that most of the team still maintained the small standards set in place. There seems to be plenty of solid building blocks with our talent, attitude, and doggedness that need to be stacked together in the right manner to find future success.
Go Chiefs!
