Week 1 Activities
Rhyming
- Talk about what rhyming words are (words that have the same sounds at the end). Ask if these pairs rhyme: book/look, tar/car, hat/shoe, call/ball, bat/cat/dog/log/book/library, big/dig, wish/star, sing/king, walk/run, swim/fish, ice/mice.
Syllables
- Find four items in your house that have two syllables (example: ta-ble)
Sounds
- Talk about how many sounds (not letters) are in these words
- c/u/p = 3
- h/ou/se = 3
- s/u/n = 3
- s/w/i/m = 4
Letter Sounds
- Find five items in your house that start with the first letter of your child’s name.

(Example):
